Rory Sweeney is a Dublin-based electronic artist, producer, and live performer known for his raw, genre-warped approach to sound. Equal parts Enya and Autechre, Rory’s music blends deconstructed club, lush dream pop textures, and experimental hip-hop. Intimate, chaotic, and playful, Rory uses left field production, dense sonic collages and DIY ethos to explore his post internet music. A key presence in Ireland’s underground, Rory’s collaborations with MCs, vocalists, and visual artists have garnered extensive critical acclaim, making him a central figure in Ireland’s flourishing musical ecosystem.
Also known for acclaimed production work for Irish and International artists such as Sello, Cosha, Sloucho, Kojaque, Gemma Dunleavy, Lord Apex, Mavi, Kibo and Pippa Molony, Rory seamlessly traverses mainstream and experimental sounds. He is the current AVA Festival Producer of the Year recipient and was up for a RTE Choice Prize this year for his work as exec producer on Curtisy’s ‘What Was The Question’.
His work has landed him on countless end of year lists over the past 4 years, with mentions in Vice, The Thin Air, Dazed, District Magazine, Nialler9 and many more. His music has seen support from several acclaimed artists such as Lord Apex, Machine Girl, EMA, Objekt, Neffa T, Oblig, Kelly Moran, Sha Ru, MI EL, WIll Bankhead (Trilogy Tapes), Maria Somerville, DJ Spit, J Colleran (MMOTHS) and Shampain.
Separately Rory has gained a cult following in Dublin for his high octane DJ sets. Rory fights the DJ Industrial Complex by celebrating dance music in all its forms, with DJ sets that range from Amapiano, Jerk and Dabke to Country and Soul music. His style of playing is sincere, messy and unpretentious. Rory has supported many international acts such as Casisdead, Explosions In The Sky, Jax Jones, D Double E, Blawan, Machine Girl (x2), Pete Cannon, Teki Latex, Hodge & Giant Swan.
